Virginia State March

April 12, 2010, 2-3 p.m. - Virginia State Capitol grounds, at the Bell Tower

State Coordinator: Leyla Myers (* till the end of 2009 year, please volunteer for the position)

As I said in June, I work for living, and my work is taking most of my time every week.  I tried to do my best to spread the word, raise funds, start petition process, get a permit for the Virginia State March and come up with a list of invited speakers (including elected VA Attorney General).  Please contact the Board or me if you can take over the duties of state coordinator.  Thank you.

Folks -
We are now collecting petition signatures - for both national and Virginia marches.  Please contact me via email if you want to help me -- I will send you two files (PDF format), you would need to print them (color or b&w), and collect signatures from your friends and family, and then send them to our PO Box in Michigan.  Each page allows for 15 signatures - it would be nice if you can fill entire page before sending it out - this would help us count the signatures when we are ready to submit the petitions.

Of you can get them from VGOF website: http://vagunforum.net/national-politics/sam-petition-signatures-t2763.html

Thank you.

Dec 12, 2009 - we will have a table at the SGK Gun Show at Fredericksburg Expo & Conference Center. I plan to be there on Saturday only - Dec 12.  I plan to be there around 8:30 am - to set up the table (very simple and quick process).   I dont know where our table will be -- the organizers decide that on the spot.  If you can come and help for any amount of time, please contact me.
I will have the tshirts and hats for sale, and we will be collecting signatures for national and state petitions.  If you are thinking of becoming a state coordinator, this would be a great opportunity for us to meet, talk and get information you need.

Thank you,

Hello Everyone!

My name is Chris Richardson and I have been given the amazing opportunity to relieve Leyla Myers of her primary duties with the Virginia march.  I am going to do my best to get moving forward with coordinating this march as quickly as possible.  Leyla will still be helping out as much as she can.  In the meantime if you have any questions or ideas (even if you don't think they are great) please send me a note.  I would love to hear what you have to say and will certainly listen to anything that may pop into your head....

In the meantime please tell all of your friends, family and coworkers about the march.  Send them to www.secondamendmentmarch.com and if possible, please donate money.  Believe me I get all of the letters in the mail asking for money too.  But this one is a BIG one.  We need for these marches to be HUGE so that we can show the antis that we are not playing around anymore.  The DC march will be significantly expensive to operate.  Every dollar that you can donate will make such a huge difference.

Thank you very much for your help!!

Chris,
Don't know the politics of the change in duties and really don't care. I know Lelya and liked he. Don't know if I know you or not but am interested in supporting the second ammandment no matter who is running the show.

Some months ago Lelya was looking for speakers for the Virginia Rally and as she put it "not the typical older angry white guy clinging to his guns and Bible" of which I am. I immediately suggested the young black man who has been arrested in Norfolk multiple times on bogus charges for open carry. Phillip (VCDL) could probably give you his contact info.

The other person I thought of was my daughter. Lelya talked to her at a gun show but never got back to her. She is currently a doctorial student in Physiology at Regent University. Background: mother of 4, married to a Marine Captain (they met when they were both Sergeants), Licensed Assembly of God Minister. Attended US Naval Academy for a while and shot on their pistol team. Marine Corps as a Sergeant, member of the Marine Corps Pistol Team, Armorer, and Primary Marksmanship Instructor.

If interested Let her know ASAP so she can prepare. If not please also let her know as she is still interested.

Hi Emerson.

Thank you very much for the suggestions.  I am familiar with the Norfolk man that you are referring to.  I will speak with Phil to see what he thinks about approaching him.  I will also get with Leyla and talk to her about your daughter.

Let me consider both and I will get back in touch with you as soon as possible.

Thanks again to you and Tabitha!

Guys -

I emailed Tabitha shortly after the show when I met her, asking her one more time to consider speaking and waiting to hear from her. Obviously, I got too busy to follow up on all requests, so I am sorry.

If the offer still stands, we would love to have Tabitha.

Good Evening!

This weekend is the 2010 Nation's Outdoor Sportsmen's Show at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, VA.  I've never been to one of these myself but I have been reserved a table to help promote the Second Amendment March.  I felt like it was a great event to introduce people to our march who might not normally hear of it but would still look upon it favorably and hopefully support it.

If anyone has interest in volunteering to help me promote our very important cause and seek donations from those willing to give to it....I would be very appreciative.  I will spend as much time as possible at the event promoting our march but I will not be able to spend the entire weekend there.  Help would be very....helpful.

I hope to see you there!

Update on the Second

Your rating: None

Update on the Second Amendment March to be held on 4/19/10 in Washington, D.C. from the President herself, Terri Stocke:

Hi Coordinators!

It has been a crazy week.  Skip attended the SHOT Show out in Vegas with our NJ coordinator, Robert Kreisler.  They are working on obtaining more sponsors for SAM.  Skip will provide an update on our next coordinator conference call.

I was in D.C. this week meeting with the National Park Service (NPS).  They require us to meet with them in person three months before our scheduled event.  The meeting was set three months ago.  I arrived in DC on Wednesday morning.  At 6:00 p.m. I received a phone call that the meeting with NPS the next day had been cancelled due to a conflicting appointment!  This was not acceptable.  After several phone calls, we were able to reschedule the meeting for 1:30 p.m. yesterday.  I brought our representative from the event production company with me.  The meeting went well, and NPS seemed satisfied with our answers.  Now the event company will draw out a detailed schematic of our event with stage, lighting, speaker, cable, generator, restroom, signage, tent and barricade placements.  NPS requires this before the official permit is issued.

Prior to the meeting our event planner and I walked the Washington Monument grounds to lay out the details of the event.  We determined that the NW corner of the monument grounds would be ideal, since it is close to the street and provides the largest area for potential attendees.  The stage can be loaded from the sidewalk there, which also cuts down on our cost of bringing in ground cover to protect the grass when the trucks drive over it.  We are debating about adding a staging area to start from where attendees could then march to the monument grounds.

On Wednesday I met with the sales manager of an Arlington hotel, and I signed an agreement for them to become our preferred hotel for the march.  They are offering us $99 a night (plus tax) for April 18th and 19th.  It is a 3.5 star hotel right across the Potomac from D.C., in close proximity to Arlington National Cemetery.  They have a free shuttle to/from Reagan National Airport and to/from the closest metro station.  If you need parking, that is $20 per night.  This rate does not include breakfast, but we felt that it was more important to keep the cost down and let people decide on their own what to do for breakfast, as many people skip that meal.  Personally, I bring bagels for my family when we travel.  ;)  FYI, the on-site restaurant is expensive.

Good Morning Patriots!

It is WAY too early for me to be up on a Saturday morning!!!  But today is the Outdoor Sportsman show at the Dulles Expo Center.  I'll be setting up a table there today to inform a fairly diverse mass of people about the upcoming marches.  Should be fun, very busy and productive.  At least that is the goal.  If anyone is interested in learning more about the march, donating a few bucks towards the cost of putting together the march or might be interested in volunteering....stop by and say hello.  If its anything like the gun shows that they hold in this building it will likely be a mad house.  And I don't know where I will be set up so you'll just have to walk through a bunch of hunting and fishing gear, speakers and exhibits in order to find me.   I know.  That's no fun.  ;)

I hope to see you there!!

Virginia Patriots!  We need your help in DC on April 19th!

Can you donate your time towards this cause?  It will be a lot of fun, it will make you feel good for contributing to probably THE best cause possible and you will make the march that much better for everyone else who attends.

We are mostly needing volunteers as:

  1. Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs)
  2. People to direct those who may be lost  around DC to the event
  3. People to man the petition table
  4. People to man an information table

GREAT NEWS!!

Yesterday I received confirmation that newly elected Attorney General of Virginia, Ken Cuccinelli, will be attending and speaking at the Second Amendment March in Richmond, VA!  Few people in Virginia, perhaps the nation, care more about the 2nd Amendment and/or liberty than Mr. Cuccinelli.  I'm very excited that he will be there to share with us his thoughts on the 2nd Amendment and why he feels that it is important to our nation.

There are many more guests to come.  I just need to confirm their committment to attending.

Stay tuned....

Phil Van Cleave of the Virginia Citizen's Defense League will be speaking at the march.   If you live in Virginia and are at ALL active in gun rights you know exactly who Phil is and how important he is is to our ability to keep and bear arms.  Phil is a great speaker, extremely active and an enormous ally.

If you haven't yet begun your membership with the Virginia Citizen's Defense League I highly recommend that you do so.  You can visit the VCDL website and join at www.vcdl.org.  If nothing else....sign up for the free VA-ALERT.  Its an email that I am always excited to open!!

Thanks Phil!

Good afternoon!

I'm planning on working a table at the Nations Gun Show at the Dulles Expo Center on Saturday February 13th.   It should be a great opportunity to promote awareness of the march.  This as many of you probably already know is a VERY busy gun show.

If anyone has any serious interest in helping me with this table please contact me at crichardson@secondamendmentmarch.com

Good Morning to you all!

The largest mission that I need your help with right now is fund raising.  If any one person or any business would be so generous as to dontate a small amount of money to help us ONLY with setting up the DC event (not for profit) we would be extremely appreciative. The expenses are VERY large, we are not affiliated with any gun group and this is all not for profit.  Every penny we receive goes into making sure that the march in DC is as colossal and entertaining as possible.

Also if anyone knows of a catchy means to raise money or knows of anyone or any business that might like to donate please let me know.  We have plenty of space on our website and in our news letter to add a banner advertising their business.

Lastly if anyone is interested in purchasing, knows someone who may be interested in purchasing or knows of a great means to sell (2) Front Sight Defensive Training certificates.....please let me know!   These are valued at $2000 each!  But because they were donated to us we are only asking $499 for each.  For FOUR days of top notch training....you really can't beat the price.

Thank you Patriots!

Both of these guys are true patriots and amazing speakers.  They will be a GREAT addition to our cause.  Be sure to check them out!!!

Details of our marches:

VA March: 4/12/10, 2-3pm at the state capital

DC March 4/19/10, 10-4pm at the Washington Monument

Your rating: None

Good Morning Patriots.

I need to make a few announcements.

First I would like to thank Phil Van Cleave of the Virginia Citizen's Defense League (VCDL) for being so excited to be a part of this march.  Phil is now scheduled to speak at both the Virginia march on April 12th and at the DC march on April 19th.  He has a wildly successful news letter that he sends out periodically throughout the week and he has been using them to help promote the marches.  Please go to www.vcdl.org and become a member of the most powerful tool that we have here in Virginia.  If nothing else, sign up for the free newsletter.

Second, I will be at the gunshow in Harrisonburg, VA this Saturday.  If you are interested in attending these marches and want to learn more....please stop by and say hello.  I could still use a volunteer to help me out on that day.  If anyone wants to help me run the table please let me know.  Its fun and you get into the show for free.  :)

Lastly, due to the proximity of Virginia to the DC march I was assuming that most people that wanted to come would likely be able to fairly easily...at least relative to all of the people coming from elsewhere in the country.  So far I have received messages from two people interested in a bus or something similar.  And both people were in different parts of the state.  If there is enough interest in scheduling a bus for you please let me know.  If I can't get enough people to fill a bus then we may have to work on a means to set up some carpools.

If you live in either of the more remote regions of Virgina and you are willing to carpool please let me know.  Perhaps we can set something up and save everyone a bit of money in gas.

PLEASE....if you have a few extra bucks in the bank....consider donating to this march.  Nobody profits from this march and its getting very expensive.  Just a small donation towards such an important event would be so appreciated.

https://www.fundraisingbynet.net/fbn/contributenp.asp?guidRegistration=565958

We also have (2) Front Sight 4 day training certificates that have a $4,000 retail value for sale for $499 each!!!  The people of Front Sight were kind enough to donate these to us as a means to make money for the march.  Please take advantage of this incredible opportunity!!!  You will likely never get THAT kind of training for THAT price ever again.

If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions please let me know.

Thank you!

Hi Patriots!!

Its been a while.  Work was crazy for a while but I'm working on tying up all of the loose ends.

I NEED YOUR HELP!!  I need for each one of you to post the information to the VA and DC marches on the forums, on Facebook, Twitter and to email the information to your friends and family.  Word of mouth is always the best way to get the word out.  If each of you can mention the 4/12 VA march and the 4/19 march once here and there it will make a HUGE difference.

I also need to beg that each one of you donate whatever you can towards the march.  Even $5 would make a huge difference when added all up.  This march is an investment in ALL of our futures.  Please give whatever you can afford.  If you can't afford to give anything....believe me...I understand.

Whatever time or funds that you can donate towards these marches, and utlimately, our cause will make quite a difference and set us up for extremely successful marches.

This is important folks!!  I think after seeing what they are willing to do with healthcare it is now not so crazy to think that they can/will eventually attempt to ban guns.

If you have any ideas, questions or suggestions please feel free to contact me.

Thank you!

Hello again everyone.

The march is getting closer.  We have a few people that want to go but don't have a means to get to DC.

What I would like to do is get people who need rides to email me with your contact information and location.  And if you are making the long drive to DC and have room to help someone get to the march please send me YOUR contact information and location.

Hopefully we can find a few matches and make sure that everyone who wants to go to DC can.  Perhaps we can help spread out some of the cost of gas and such as a result and make everyone happy.

If you need a ride email me.  If you have room to take someone who needs a ride email me.  Lets make this happen.  We are all family and all fighting for the same cause.  Lets give those who want to help us fight a helping hand.

Thank you!!

If you live in Virginia and you need a ride up to DC on April 19th we have your answer.  Philip Van Cleave of the Virginia Citizens Defense League has gratiously decided to help us out with the traveling situation.   There are going to be three locations where busses are to be stationed to pick you up.  One will be in the Tidewater area, one in Richmond and the other in Roanoke.

Here is what YOU must do.  Email Mr. Van Cleave at philip@virginiasystems.com and in the subject of the email type which of the three regions you are from, the word "Bus" and the number of people in your crew.

For example..."Richmond Bus 2" or "Tidewater Bus 5".

The cost for this service will be $25 per person.   Please remember to keep any guns that you may have in your car or at home.  You can not bring them into DC inside or outside of the bus.

Thanks!

I want to take a minute to

Your rating: None

I want to take a minute to update everyone on a few things.

1.  For everyone who has been helping to raise money, spread the word, donate time speaking or equipment setting up these events.....THANK YOU.  I hope you understand that this event is not about those who are coordinating the marches.  We aren't receiving anything for doing this.  This is all about FREEDOM and our RIGHTS.  ALL of our rights.   So I take it very personally both when someone refuses to donate time/money or refuses to attend but also when people try so much to lend a helping hand.  Throughout this I have realized that there are many who truly respect this cause and will do whatever it takes to help make a difference.  However I have also seen the unfortunate reverse and it really saddens me.  So THANK YOU to everyone who is participating and to everyone who will be showing their support of our freedoms and our RIGHT to keep and bear arms!!

2.  Leyla and I will be at this weekend's gun show at the Richmond International Raceway.  We will have a table and there will be plenty of merchandise available to purchase so that you are prepared to show your support at the Virginia and the DC marches.  Come see us.  We will be happy to answer any questions.  And I hate to add this but it is important so I must...please, if you are going to be attending this show and you have just one extre dollar...please consider dropping it in our donation jar.  If we could get just $1 from everyone at the show we would be able to raise a good amount towards paying for all of the bills.

3.  REMINDER:  If you are going to the DC march....GUNS ARE ILLEGAL.  YOU WILL GET ARRESTED AND THROWN IN JAIL.  Its not worth it.  Leave your guns at home.  If you are taking a bus....LEAVE YOUR GUNS AT HOME.  This applies to ANY part of the gun whether it be the actual gun, an empty mag or even a bullet.  If you are found with a bullet in DC YOU WILL GET ARRESTED.  Leave ALL of that stuff at home.

4. We are NOT however going to suggest that you keep your empty holsters at home.  It is simply not officially encouraged or discouraged by Second Amendment March.   I'm sure there will be more than a significant number of people there who chose to wear one.   We aren't going to refuse you if you do.  What else can I say?

5.  If you need a bus you must contact Philip Van Cleave of the Virginia Citizen's Defense League ASAP.  There will be three locations set up with buses.  Richmond, Roanoke and Tidewater.  If you want to get on a bus you must at least be able to drive yourself to one of those areas.  Exact locations will be relayed to you as time progresses.  Philip's email address is philip@virginiasystems.com.  In the subject simply type which of the 3 locations you are interested in meeting up at, the word "BUS" and how many people (including yourself) will be boarding.   YOU MUST DO THIS IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A SEAT ON THE BUS.  No ifs, ands or buts.  Price per head is $25.  LEAVE YOUR GUNS AT HOME (BULLETS AND MAGS INCLUDED).

6.  Its anybody's guess what the weather will be like on April 19th.  Dress to adapt.  Wear tennis shoes.  Whenever I end up in DC for an event like this I wear flip flops and I eventually regret it.  In fact you might find that I will be wearing them to this event anyways.  And I might just tell you that I regret it.  Its hard to get me into anything else when its warm outside  There will be some walking involved and hours of standing.  Dress to be comfortable but also to endure.  We don't want any of you to have to go home early and miss any of the great speakers.  Likewise bring a small thing of suntan lotion and perhaps a small umbrella.

7.  In the likely case that there will either be anti-gun protestors, anarchists or just knuckleheads present at this march.....WALK AWAY FROM THEM.  These people may be present only with the intentions of instigating an argument or a fight.  Do not participate on ANY  level in trying to stop these people.  They have a right, just as we do, to speak their minds.  That RIGHT is partly why we will be there.  We must fight for their right as well...even if we don't agree with it. If they get out of hand....STEP AWAY FROM THEM...and let the cops do their jobs.   DON'T BE A HERO.  Any attempt to be a hero WILL BE taken out of complex by the media.  LET THE COPS DO THEIR JOBS.  If you notice anyone, even someone who seems to be one of our own, getting out of hand IMMEDIATELY tell an officer.  Thank you!!!

8.  Please throw all trash in a proper receptical or keep in on you until you can find one.  Let's show everyone that we are responsible people.

9.  Bring video recording devices with you if possible.  Both so that you can later enjoy the march and show everyone that you were there and so that we can capture any bad behavior or attempts to smear the march on tape.

10.  Just be adults, dress to adapt and to be comfortable, leave anything that is required to make a gun go "POW" at home, immediately disassociate yourself from trouble, and have a LOT OF FUN!!!!  It should be a really enjoyable event.

If you have any questions please continue to email or call me.  Either is fine with me.  Both of these will be operable during the march.  I will help answer questions the best I can up until the march is complete.  So if you get lost or need metro help or have last minute questions do not hesitate to get in touch with me.
