It’s Time Our Voices Are Heard!

The Mission of the Second Amendment March is:

  • To galvanize the courage and resolve of American gun owners
  • To petition our elected officials against establishing anti-gun legislation
  • To remind America that the Second Amendment is necessary to maintain our right to self defense

We will accomplish our mission by a peaceful march in Washington DC, the United States Capitol, supported by satellite marches to State Capitols and smaller cities all across America, including Ohio.

Join us in Columbus, Ohio on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the Ohio Statehouse as we send a message loud and clear that our rights are not up for negotiation and we, as Ohioans and Americans, cherish them dearly.

When: Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 11:00am
Where: Columbus Statehouse
Scheduled Speakers
Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray
Ohio Senator Jon Husted
Representative Seth Morgan
Nicole Goeser
Dave Yost
Skip Coryell

Leading up to the Ohio March will be a series of Town Hall Meetings to drum up support and raise funds for the National March. If you would like to attend or help, please subscribe to the e-newsletter for the Ohio Second Amendment March. Together, we can make both events a big success!

We will also be working on getting an Ohio contingent to the National March. The March in D.C. will take place on Monday, April 19, 2010 on the grounds of the Washington Monument.

The Second Amendment: it is the one right that protects all others.

I was just wondering, is this

Your rating: None

I was just wondering, is this march on April 10, 2010 in Columbus Ohio, an armed march? I do all the Tea Parties and like, but I am really interested in an armed march. We do have open carry here in Ohio. I think it is time....

Thanks...
Mike

Does Bill O’Reilly Dismiss The Second Amendment?
By Steve LeMaster
Published: February 22nd, 2010

Picture this scenario:

A natural disaster occurs and devastates an entire state. Thousands of people leave before conditions get worse and thousands more have no choice but to remain. Many of those thousands that left were law enforcement officers and what remains is broken and authority becomes non existent, sending the entire state into chaos causing the governor to implement martial law to suppress looting and other criminal behavior.

Much of the population are business owners and have no choice but to arm themselves for protection. Law enforcement is virtually non-existent and the national guard can’t be everywhere all time.

In reference to the "Armed

Your rating: None

In reference to the "Armed March" it is my understanding, (thereby my actions) that it is illegal to carry on any PROPERTY that is OWNED or LEASED by any US, State, County or Local Government AGENCY. My interpretation is this: (I am not a lawyer in anyway just an educated Gun owner) While the sidewalk is PUBLIC property, it COULD be argued that it is the grounds of the statehouse. Therefore, I would NOT stand in front of statehouse on the sidewalk with my firearm. IF I did this, I would stand across the street, on a sidewalk, in FRONT of a private business. I would stay away from parks, federal buildings, state buildings. Also, I would park on the street if it was available, away from government buildings. Furthermore, it would be a good idea to carry your weapon WITHOUT ammunition, and maybe without the magazine. You might also want to find out Columbus' City ordinances. Mainly regarding permits and protests. Also, counter protesters may and probably will be your largest opposition. While carrying proves you are not dangerous and guns dont kill people, I would not like to spend a night in jail for a bullshit misdemeanor or possibly a Felony due to illegal carry. You also have to consider criminal trespass charges (normally a misdemeanor but turns to a felony if you have a weapon) (from that private business if they dont support you) or Inducing Panic/Inciting a Riot/Disorderly Conduct/Failure to comply with a law enforcement officer. This is an easy reason for an officer to arrest you. You usually have to be committing another crime to be charged with Inducing/Inciting and Disorderly, not just in the possession of a weapon. Keep in mind if you get arrested for demonstrating illegally, you face a felony if you have a weapon. It's an ordeal I would not want to go through myself.

Ladies and gentlemen, I tell you this one CCW owner to fellow CCW holders and gun enthusiasts. I wish you all a peaceful, productive, positive protest. I'd love to see you not carry your weapons and protest, than to never protest again (or at least anytime soon)

Be safe, M Lyons

Government BUILDINGS not

Your rating: None

Government BUILDINGS not property! Do not go into the State House. See Revised Code Section 2923. 126(B)(9) was amended to specifically allow carry in governmental buildings that are primarily restrooms, shelter houses or parking facilities. So, you can even park in a government lot, like beneath the State House - and, visit the rest room there!

Finally, I have to say that I was legally carrying concealed & parking during the TEA Party Rally last August.

Jim, you are correct as to

Your rating: None

Jim, you are correct as to licensed concealed carry being permitted on the capitol square. Revised Code Section 2923.126(A) specifically says a licensee may carry anywhere in the state except as specified in division (B) and (C) of that same section. (B) and (C) specify only governmental buildings, not government property. So capitol lawn and sidewalks, sure, capitol building, no. (I would, however, disagree with your interpretation of the capitol parking garage being ok for concealed carry, as that is not "a building that is used primarily as a...parking facility for motorvehicles. R.C. 2923.126(B)(9). The majority of activities occuring in that building, the majority of the use of that building, is not dedicated to parking cars.)

With regard to open cary, you are under a completely different set of rules, and open carry is not as broad as licensed concealed carry, and all the provisions of the licensed concealed carry in 2923.126 do not apply to open carry. Open carry is sourced most directly in R.C. 9.68, which simply says open carry is legal so long as not prohibited by state or federal law. R.C. 105.41 and 111.15 give the Capitol Square Advisory Board the power to regulate the capitol square grounds under state law, and a violation of any CSAB rule is a violation of state law. OAC 128-4-02(G)(10) prohibits firearms unless the CSAB gives explicit permission. So open carry is at least arrestable on the capitol square grounds.

The open carry walk there back in the 2002 timeframe was explicitly set up that way, and again the CSAB can grant permission as they see fit.

I only open carry on my own

I only open carry on my own property or that of friends and family. I do not consider it particularly safe in other locations.

so i remember hearing about

Your rating: None

so i remember hearing about the march like 2 years ago.. at the time i expected and even said i'd head to DC if it ever got off the ground today i heard it has.. and now i come to find out about local marches..

my situation has changed a lot in the last 2 years and DC is out of the question.

so my real question is what exactly is planned for the columbus ohio march? and whats the pulse like? i mean what do we expect the turn out to be?

i'd like to come but not if it's gonna be 20 guys and gals standing around for a few hours doing nothing.

i guess im just looking for more information specific to the ohio march.

as for a armed march im all for it, however my knowledge is a little rusty.
i know it's against the law to carry in a government building.. however i can't remember if that applies to the "grounds".

PS why not just have it on the same day as the DC march? i noticed several states with different dates.

If you are not already doing

Your rating: None

If you are not already doing so, why not combine efforts for publicity and for participants by working with the many local Meet-up groups including the Columbus Townhall Group, the Conservative Cavalry, the 9-12 groups, the We Suroound Them, the Tea Party Patriots, etc. The majority of the members of these groups are strong supporters of your cause.

Meanwhile, whenever the event is held, I will plan to Video Record it and put the video up on our Blip TV, YouTube, and on our Wordpress web sites so that we can get maximum coverage and benefit from whatever marches or events occur.

The week after the Scott Victory in Massachusetts I noticed a lot of activity from people viewing our archived TEA PARTY videos from last March, April, May, and on in through September's Voice of America Freedom Rally in Weschester, OH.
It seems that the opposition is finally noticing that we exist. If we cover the event and post it to the internet, we will magnify our impact hundreds of time and the videos will remain long after our marches.
