Some mainstream media pundits claim that Obama is not a threat to gun rights. Their reasoning? After a year in office, he has not done or said anything significant about guns. But is that reason to believe that he has turned pro-gun or that he has adopted an agnostic position on the Second Amendment?
Let's take a look at the record. As a senator and presidential candidate, Obama ...
1. Endorsed a complete ban on handgun ownership in Illinois.
2. Supported gun bans in Chicago and Washington, D.C.
3. Supported the elimination of concealed carry nationwide.
4. Voted for the prosecution of citizens who use firearms in self-defense.
5. Voted to allow lawsuits intended to bankrupt the firearms industry.
6. Supported reinstating the Clinton assault weapons ban.
7. Voted to ban rifle ammunition used for hunting and sport.
8. Supported gun registration for law-abiding gun owners.
9. Refused to sign a court brief affirming the individual right to bear arms.
10. Served on the Board of the Joyce Foundation, the #1 source of funds for anti-gun groups.
11. Supported a ban on gun stores within five miles of any school or park.
12. Voted to prevent gun owners from knowing when Illinois ran record searches.
13. Supported mandatory micro-stamping for gun manufacturers.
14. Supported the creation and enforcement of mandatory waiting periods.
15. Supported the one-gun-a-month rule on gun sales.
16. Supported banning cheap handguns.
17. Supported banning police departments from reselling firearms.
18. Supported mandatory training for all gun owners regardless of cost.
19. Supported a ban on gun ownership for anyone under 21.
Are we to believe that a liberal politician with an anti-gun record like this has so quickly changed his views? What will Obama's agenda look like if he's able to push through his health care bill and move on to other issues?
It is naïve, bordering on foolish, to assume that Obama is no longer a threat to gun rights. He was, is, and will remain a threat until he is ex-President Obama.

For the record, I was robbed at work at gunpoint this year by a couple of teenagers who got guns too easily.

I'll tell you for a fact that it has never crossed my mind to use my firearm on anyone -- unless they have broken into my home or someone's life is in eminent danger. Your first assertion regarding your fictitious 90% figure is pure baloney and clearly meant to incite.
Please explain to us how any of the following would have helped to protect YOU, and keep guns out of TyShawn and Homey G's criminal hands:

On the other hand, it's a shame that a law-abiding gun owner didn't happen to be there when TyShawn and Homey decided to break the law. Second Amendment March has never advocated or encouraged any illegal carrying of firearms, any display of violence, or any civil disobedience. It is a celebration of our second amendment right and heritage, pure and simple. If you disagree, you have the choice to not attend. I for one will always cherish my freedom of speech and exercise it often. You are free to do the same. I'm sure the Brady bunch would welcome you.

If a legal gun owner saw you and your family getting robbed by an illegal gun owner and helped you and saved you and your family's life, what would they think then.
Most of us follow the letter of the law - if you ban guns, that legal gun owner would no longer have a gun so that would have put them and their family at risk.

Use logic and evidence in making cogent arguments in favor of lifting restrictions on gun owners, and to support gun-owners' rights.

The 1st Amendment FORBIDS Congress from tampering with our God given right to speak out against our government, and from tampering with our inalienable right to worship as we please.
The 2nd Amendment comes right after the 1st Amendment very purposefully...it FORBIDS Congress from tampering with our God-given right to enforce the 1st Amendment AGAINST Congress.
The 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with hunting, drug dealing, or target shooting. It is designed to keep government from over-reaching its limits, by force, if necessary.

You cant say that 90 percent of the people who are pro gun rights are wacko's. Its a small minority in any group that are the lunatic fringe. Surely, Obama is not one who supports gun rights. And I understand he doesn't have the power to take those rights away; however, there are things they could put in place to make it more difficult to buy, sell or get a concealed weapons permit. Trust me even the police for the most part are anti-guns. Look at Florida's drastic drop in violent crime in the last 15 years! Its very easy for someone to get a concealed weapons permit there, it makes the police more hostile and aggressive, but nevertheless they still had a big drop in armed crimes like robbery. People are going to get guns illegally no matter what. Gang bangers are no exception, the point is to be better armed then they are. And as far as an American committing an act of terrorism. Think about this, in all these violent shooting rampages like Virginia Tech and Fort Hood, what if there were people who had a concealed weapons permit? Who were trained and proficient with guns? How many lives could have been saved? Instead society relies on a police force that cant be everywhere at the times.

I have never yet heard those who advocate more restrictions on gun ownership explain why that would work any better than our so-called "War on Drugs" has worked. When the drug dealers sneak illegal drugs into the country by kilograms and by tons, what makes anybody think that gun laws will keep guns out of the hands of criminals? Where has that approach actually worked in this country? If guns cause crime, why did crime rates not increase, but, instead, fell in some cases as state adopted more relaxed carry laws? Somebody mentioned Tyrone and JaShawn. I'll bet that Tyrone and JaShawn are already prohibited from owning guns due to past felony convictions, and, not only have no problem getting guns, but also have no problem getting crack cocaine to sell--laws notwithstanding.

I think I understand where you are coming from but I don't think you fully understand the gravity of the situation with this administration. I feel you too may have bought into the hysteria created by the media, right and left wing politicians. They started painting gun owners as urban terriost shortly after JFK's assination. It has been a slow and constant under mining of the Second Amendment rights for almost 50 years. All good law abiding citizens have sat tight, been patient and the reward is the appointment of an idiot like Eric Holder. This loon wants to be able to strip you of all your rights on his say so alone, no evidence, no trial, his say so could get you imprisioned if he had his way. He doesn't have this power yet, but he wants it.
I do agree we should take the high road and continue to promote positive pro gun attitudes without threats but with promises that we will not stand for any rights, or freedoms to be altered or removed. I have watched videos of Englishman and Austrailians describing the day they had to surrender their firearms to authorities. Their advice to us was "don't let your government do that to you, fight for your right to keep your arms it's your Constitutional right".

The credit worthiness of the United States is slipping and our bonds are losing value and the interest rate the Treasury, USINS folks, is going up on all these bonds. The debt level of States and communities is in serious jeopardy both from an immediate standpoint and longer term because of way under funding the bloated retirement benefits of public employees and the bloated health Benefits that public employees are given. Tax revenues are slipping fast. In addition the delinquency rates on Prime Mortgages is deteriorating and the delinquency rate on 2nd tier mortgages is accelerating. We are in for a very long and very deep economic collapse possibly as long as 20 years. There is no wealth creation happening in the United States. And our illustrious Marxist just stopped off shore drilling which would have helped fairly quickly our deficit of payments.
The entire world wide debt level especially in the Western World is beyond paying. Greece, Italy, Spain Portugal Ireland, Turkey, England etc are in very serious condition and also deteriorating. Latvia's government just collapsed because of the financial condition they are in as did Iceland just a few weeks ago.
So you can criticise someone who says we are in trouble and prepare fro the worst, and you are the one in trouble as you will try to steal from those who prepare or are productive to redistribute to those, yourself, who are wayward and indolent.
