Tentative date for state
Tentative date for state march is April 17th, but we're still working on an appropriate time and location to hold this. Indianapolis city ordinance prohibits firearms in city parks.
Thank you,
Jared
Firearms not permitted????
Firearms not permitted???? Firearms are not permitted on the mall in Washington DC either. Is that a reason not to march in support of our precious second amendment? Sounds like armed citizens of Indianapolis need to work on those ordinances. Let's do it.
I don't believe either the
I don't believe either the War memorial ot the Circle are "City Parks."

Do you have a common parking area in mind?
Where are we to park and how
Where are we to park and how do we transport our firearms from our cars to the march site with out getting in trouble.
Please abide by all state and
Please abide by all state and local laws when transporting firearms. As a general rule, this means cased and unloaded and locked in the trunk or storage area of your vehicle.
There is street-side parking all around the Indiana State house.
Thanks,
Jared
I would like to clarify that
I would like to clarify that your stated general rule about transporting firearms is incorrect. In Indiana it is perfectly legal to carry your pistol in any manner you wish. Loaded, unloaded, in your holster on your hip, in your glovebox, whatever. It doesn't need to be locked up while transporting.
If you don't have a LTCH then you can't even bring it outside your home period.
Also, there is parking available at White River State Park, the Indy Zoo, and Circle Center Mall, although I don't recommend carrying long guns in the mall parking lots as they will most likely ask you to leave.
Thanks,
Ryan
Forgot to mention that the
Forgot to mention that the same goes with long guns as well, except YOU DO NOT NEED A LTCH to carry a long gun. Transport those however you wish.
In my experience downtown
In my experience downtown street-side parking fills up fast and one can spend considerable time searching/waiting for a spot. I really think you need a better plan than "just park on the street" for parking.
When Ryan was organizing his "Open Carry Walk" last year the parking issue was an important one and at least one parking garage owner objected to folk with guns parking in his garage.
Is the Indianapolis march
Is the Indianapolis march 4/17 still on? Is the leading post valid?
Yes, it is still on. Please
Yes, it is still on. Please read through the information at the top of this page.

I want to carry a
I want to carry a Mosin-Nagant with the standard bayonet on it. This will be near impossible, carried muzzle down. Is there an important reason not to carry it slung normally?
Benny, we are carrying
Benny, we are carrying muzzle-down because of the tall buildings in the immediate vicinity. If this is a problem, I would recommend picking a different rifle :-)
Thanks,
Jared
Parking? Back when some local
Parking?
Back when some local folks were organizing another open carry walk in Indianapolis that was an issue.

So... if someone MUST go into the State House or wants to go on the lawn, have them let someone they trust hold their firearms for them. (hint: everyone should bring their friends :-)
